Spoilers abound…

In this episode’s news segment we discuss some movie news concerning DC’s Green Arrow and Disney’s Prince of Persia. One leaves DK and I excited the other not so much. We wrap up the segment by making another round of box office predictions. This time on Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, which leads us into a heated discussion as to which Indy movie is really leader of the pack.

In our review segment this week:

* Amazing Spider-Man #559
* Wonder Woman #20
* Secret Invasion:Fantastic 4 #1 of 3
* Wolverine #65
* Huntress Year One #1

If you make it through the all the inappropriate jokes and references to cast member body parts, you’ll hear the end of the show where we go over our personal recommendations, or most anticipated books, and the worst of the week. This week’s worst of the week made me die a little inside.

After sitting on my shelf for quite some time I finally got to read this while on vacation. It really was a great read. I was sad that I read through it so quickly. Vaughn captured something in this story I find it hard to describe. He’s done something I find myself doing on occasion. Taking a story and filling in the gaps. Giving voices and personalities to the animals and making you care about them almost immediately is a gift that Vaughn must possess. The fact that there was an element of truth to it made the ending that much more emotional.

Tell me what you thought.

Coming sooner than expected…

the story of my life….

We recorded Thursday as opposed to Wednesday this week due to some scheduling conflicts. Which seems to happen often with us, but regardless we got it done. I barely made it through to be honest. Due to some coughing from earlier this week my voice was completely shot. It was okay in parts, but in others it was a struggle. I’m on vacation this weekend, which is why I thought the podcast wouldn’t be up till Monday. I was dreading my eventual forced absence from the internet. I can’t help it. It’s an addiction and admitting that is the first step… Nowhere on our arrangements did it say ‘wifi’ or anything else pertaining to accessing the world wide web, but I took my laptop regardless. We get in our condo and as I’m going back down the elevator to get a few things I notice a wireless access point mounted above the elevator door. So I hurried down, got what I needed and came back to the condo. I grabbed my laptop and opened up and lo and behold there was a wireless connection on every floor! So there’s the biggest relief of the day.

Oh and I’ll post the podcast as soon as I get it as opposed to soon as I get home.

Capes and Tights Episode 6

On the first Wednesday of every month we’ll be doing commentary for a comic book movie. On our inaugural episode we watched Superman:The Movie. On that episode we made the mistake of doing a full review show BEFORE we watch a 2 and a half hour movie. Needless to say we learned our lesson. This week we’ll be watching Spider-Man from 2002. Listen in as Ashlee drools over a spider bitten Peter Parker and while the rest of us question Kirsten Dunst’s existence. So there will be no comic reviews this episode, which makes this entirely commentary. So get your copy playing and listen in with us. We’ll be back next week with a review show for this week’s comics as the previous week’s.

Enjoy the Show

Be sure to email us with suggestions as well as questions and comments.

Episode 6 is a Movie Commentary again.

We decided that on the first week of the month we’ll do movie commentary on a superhero of our choice or by request. This serves a couple of purposes. On one hand it lets us talk about movies past and give or thoughts and opinions on them as they play out and on the other hand it gives us a little break. It’s a win/win situation for us. I’m not sure how it works out for our listeners.

This week we’ll be watching Spider-Man from 2002. So when the episode is released you need to have your copy ready to watch along with us. I think we should have a full cast again. I know that Ashlee will be joining us again. So we should fill the silence quite a bit.

Well we’re back with our full cast plus one. Ashlee joined us the week in our discussions. It worked out so well she may become a regular feature this summer.

This week we went over the preview for DC Universe #0, the new Incredible Hulk trailer, as well as made our predictions about Iron Man’s opening weekend.

In our main comic discussion we reviewed:

* JLA #20
* Countdown #1
* Mighty Avengers #12
* Superman/Batman #47
* Ultimate Spider-Man #121

After our comic recommendations, we talked about the worst comic of the week in our opinion. You ‘ll have to listen to the show to find out which one is was. We then wrap up the show by doing an open discussion on Alan Moore’ The Killing Joke.

Iron Man

Finally saw it today. I gotta say on first viewing I feel as if it’s the best comic book movie to date. It was a pleasure for me to watch the entire time. It was such a welcome feeling to enjoy something like this. Spider-Man 3 did not leave me with this feeling. I still feel as if Dark Knight will have a tough time topping this for me. Iron Man was fun. Plain and simple, but that doesn’t mean it lacks depth. Dark Knight will be a film. Iron Man was a movie.

Oh yeah, the ending….:o
