The crew of the SS George H.W. Bush may not be the best in the galaxy, but they’re certainly a hilarious bunch. In Space Job, we get to witness their daily adventures in incompetence. Space Job was written by David A. Goodman, illustrated by Alvaro Sarraseca and colored by Jordi Escuin Llorach.
One of the positives with Space Job is the right dosage of humor. It’s not too silly, but it’s not too serious either. The comedic timing is spot on, and each character brings their own unique brand of humor to the table. From the self-centered Captain to the Communications Officer who only takes personal calls, every character is comedic gold in their own way.
The tone and style of Space Job remind us a lot of another space-related series, The Orville. Of course, this comes as no surprise since David A. Goodman created The Orville for TV. If you’re a fan of The Orville, then you’ll definitely enjoy Space Job. Although it’s not as good as The Orville, it does have its moments.
Another great thing about the four issue series is that it offers a fresh take on the space genre. Instead of focusing on serious, high-stakes scenarios, it takes a lighthearted approach and pokes fun at the genre. It’s a refreshing change of pace from the typical space dramas, and it breathes new life into the genre.
